Residents of Sandusky County have noticed the demolition of several blighted and vacant buildings throughout our community. Thanks to the newly created Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, the Sandusky County Land Bank has been able to receive the necessary funding from the state of Ohio to remediate these properties that often pose concerns to the public. In addition to being an eye-sore, several of these properties also pose safety concerns and were beyond repair. The Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program which funds the demolition of dilapidated commercial and residential buildings will lead to the revitalization of these properties, either by rebuild or green space. As the Sandusky County Land Bank continues to complete the site revitalization process, if properties become available for sale they will be listed on the land bank website (www.sclandbank.com). Each property may have different circumstances that prevent the land bank from obtaining ownership of the property and therefore, might not be available for sale. Should the land bank become the owner of any of these properties, a For Sale sign will be placed at the site in addition to being listed on the land bank website.

The Sandusky County Land Bank continues to work with the State of Ohio to utilize state funding to assist with community redevelopment. In total, thirty-three (33) properties from around the county were included in this grant application. This has been the largest collaboration of county, city, village and township officials to address the growing concerns of blighted and vacant properties. We are hoping to continue this progress moving forward and have begun preparing for the next available round of funding from the State.
